6th Kup – Green Belt

At 6th Kup, students begin to demonstrate stronger application of technique, power, and timing. The introduction of 2-step and free sparring builds confidence, distance control, and adaptability in live situations. Board breaking becomes a focused test of precision and commitment.

Belt Meaning

Green: Signifies the growth of the plant as Taekwon‑Do skills develop.

Grading Requirements

  • Pattern: Won-Hyo – 28 movements
  • 2-Step Sparring (Ibo Matsogi)
  • Free Sparring (Jayu Matsogi)
  • Left Side Kick and Right Side Kick
  • Left Turning Kick and Right Turning Kick
  • Left Reverse Turning Kick and Right Reverse Turning Kick
  • Board Breaking: All of the six kicks listed – break if over 18, measured attempt if under
  • Theory Questions
  • Minimum time since last grading: 3 months

Theory & Terminology

  • Ibo Matsogi – 2-Step Sparring
  • Jayu Matsogi – Free Sparring
  • Yop Chagi – Side Kick
  • Dollyo Chagi – Turning Kick
  • Bandae Dollyo Chagi – Reverse Turning Kick
  • Won-Hyo: Won-Hyo was a noted monk who introduced Buddhism to the Silla Dynasty in the year 686 A.D.

All techniques must show correct stance, balance, accuracy, and power. Kicks must be delivered with control and retraction. Sparring should demonstrate awareness of distance, movement, and timing.
